Dear Fellow Christian Web-surfer, As I glance across the faces in this warm and caring congregation on Sunday mornings, I see many different stories. These are narratives that move my heart, for I realize where God has touched our lives. I think back to the past and see where the Holy Spirit has been at work with members, making a difference in our lives as a potter with clay; yet, more importantly, I also catch a vision of our future together. It is a joy to be called to serve such a faith community! From these special faces, it is apparent that God is alive and working in our congregation - a church family that I have found to be warm and caring. As the new pastor of Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church, I would personally invite you to join us for worship. Following worship there is a fellowship and coffee hour. It is a chance to meet new friends, learn more about the warm heart of our church, and experience genuine Christian fellowship. There are wonderful things happening at our warm church of which I hope you take a closer look. If you have children, I would like to invite your youth to experience our Sunday school. It happens at 11:00 a.m. after our 10:30 a.m. fellowship and coffee time. Confirmation Class (8th graders) started in January on Sunday mornings. In the past summer we joyfully witnessed an enormously successful vacation bible school (VBS) at our church. I can say that I have never seen such an outpouring of youth to a vacation bible school. What a great thing to be part of! Also, an Adult study is in full swing at 11:00 a.m. as well. It has been a block-buster event, with around 30 people in attendance, sharing and caring for one another. Feel free to join in at any time, because the study is not sequential. As we serve Our Lord together in Christian love, may we be inspired and moved by Paul's words from Ephesians 4, where the evangelist writes, "I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." Indeed, God has called us into a unique relationship with one another in our church family, where Christ's presence nurtures us as spiritual entities. May you go boldly into the future, knowing that this is a sacred place where Christ will meet our lives! Warmly, Rev. David T. Widmer Pastor, BVPC |
