From The Pastor's Desk

Dear Fellow Christian Web-surfer,

As I glance across the faces in this warm and caring congregation on Sunday mornings, I see many different stories.  These are narratives that move my heart, for I realize where God has touched our lives.  I think back to the past and see where the Holy Spirit has been at work with members, making a difference in our lives as a potter with clay; yet, more importantly, I also catch a vision of our future together.  It is a joy to be called to serve such a faith community!  From these special faces, it is apparent that God is alive and working in our congregation.

As the pastor of Berkshire Valley Presbyterian Church, I would personally invite you to join us for worship Sunday mornings at 9:30. Following worship there is a fellowship time for coffee, treats, and friendly conversation.  It is a chance to meet new friends, learn more about the warm heart of our church, and experience genuine Christian fellowship.

There are wonderful things happening at our warm church of which I hope you take a closer look. The church has grown much in the past four years and there are many new things to consider. The youth adults meet the final Sunday of the month after worship for fellowship and conversation about current issues. There is an adult Bible study that meets during the week. If you have children, I would like to invite your youth to experience our Sunday school.  It follows fellowship and coffee time. Confirmation Class is available for youth (usually for 8th graders) who take seriously the call to explore membership. A High School group awaits your youth. In the past summers we joyfully witnessed an enormously successful vacation bible school (VBS) at our church.  I can say that I have never seen such an outpouring of youth to a vacation bible school.  These are just a few activities that are happening at BVPC.

As we serve Our Lord together in Christian love, may we be inspired and moved by Paul’s words from Ephesians 4, where the evangelist writes, “I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  Indeed, God has called us into a unique relationship with one another in our church family, where Christ’s presence nurtures us as spiritual entities.

Warmly,

Rev. David T. Widmer

Pastor, BVPC
